With the release of Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, Apple has added a new feature called Gatekeeper.  This new feature prevents unknown applications from running on a user’s system by default.

At this time, all SubRosaSoft applications have not been for full 10.8 Mountain Lion compatibility.  While they will run on the new operating system, users may recieve a message stating that the application is from an unknown developer.  This is because by default, Mountain Lion will only allow applications from App Store and developers identified through the Apple Developer Program to run.  This setting can easily be changed through the users System Preferences.

1) Open the System Preferences either through the Apple Menu or the System Preferences icon in the Dock.

2) Click the Security & Privacy system preference in the Personal section at the top of the preferences window.

3) Click the lock icon in the lower left corner of the Security & Privacy window and enter the administrator password to unlock and allow changes to the system settings.

4) Once unlocked, you may now change the Gatekeeper settings.  Simply select Anywhere in the bottom section labeled Allow applications downloaded from: under the General settings tab.  You may now quit the System Preferences and run applications from any developer.

  1. I get OutofBoundsException when I try to run CopyCatX 5 on osx 10.8.2

    tried the Allow from anywhere, but still same message and the app quits. Any ideas?

    I am still running CopyCatX 5.1.1 beta in Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 — my only registered copy.

    I would like to upgrade to OS X 10.9 Mavericks; anyone know if the beta can still be used? I don’t want to upgrade my Mountain Lion install and then loose this program.

  4. unable to do any undelete work on 7.0.1 on OSX 10.9… why?

    when I click into the Recover module, no drives show up, even though there are many volumes mounted…
